This role is critical to support evidence-based decisions in Explore Learning’s people strategy. We're looking for a data driven business analyst to take real ownership of this business area, drive change and make a real impact. There will be opportunities to lead change projects in addition to advising on data, so an interest in behavioural sciences is highly recommended.

The Role

What you'll be doing:

  • Enable evidence-based decisions to drive the people strategy
    • Analyse and forecast people data, linking different sources of information (e.g. attrition data, staff sentiment, gender pay gap); generate insights to diagnose improvements in employee experience and/or commercial output; produce monthly management information for board of directors
    • Generate database queries in response to people related data requests (e.g. pay analysis)
    • Empower others with data storytelling and simple data consumption
  • Drive workforce scheduling efficiencies to deliver commercial impact
    • Support the Operations team in optimising our tutor scheduling approach in line with seasonal variations and changing customer demand
    • Partner with our business analysts and data engineers to evolve our tutor timesheet app
    • Forecast, evaluate and evolve staffing requirements across our network of centres
  • Maintain and develop the People systems architecture
    • Understand the data structure (APIs & dataflows) across all people systems
    • Support relations with our system suppliers (Access, iCIMS); work on configuration of products where necessary
    • Collaborate with the People, Operations and Digital teams, as well as third party technical partners, to translate business requirements into technical solutions

 

What are the core skills and experience?

  • Strong technical skills with proven experience in SQL, Power BI and/or similar analytical tools
  • Skilled in analysing large datasets and using insight to drive business decisions
  • Comfortable with both quantitative and qualitative data gathering and analysis
  • Experience creating solutions that are innovative, yet simple and scalable
  • Strong communicator and collaborator; clear and credible
  • Data-driven: passionate about leading with data
  • Commercially minded: knowledgeable about how the business operates and what influences its profitability
  • Background in psychology or behavioural sciences desirable

 

Logistics

The logistics

  • This is a full time role on a remote-first basis but requires travel in the UK to attend meetings and workshops on a regular basis
  • This role reports to the Head of Strategic Planning & Insight, with a dotted reporting line to the Chief People Officer
  • No direct reports
  • Salary dependent on experience
  • Holiday: 22 flexible days + bank holidays 
  • A maximum of 2 well-being and/or volunteer days.
  • You'll also receive additional holiday time based on your length of service.
